Visa Update

Today the postman was good to me; he brought me an extension to my visitor visa. It also seems that the Immigration Officer was extremely generous to me. Not only did i receive the extension but the extension is valid for an entire year, allowing me to stay here until August 2008.

Now, for those who are confused with the visa situation, i will venture to clarify things.

1) Visitor visa extension

The extension i received this morning is not my permanent residency (PR) visa. The extension merely allows me to stay here while waiting for the PR visa.

2) permanent residency (PR) visa

The PR visa is still being processed and it will take at least another 3 months to be completed. Thats if there are no further complications. The PR visa is not Citizenship, but it does allow people to live and work in Canada. The effect of the PR is like citizenship, with the exception that permanent residents cannot vote, nor do they have Canadian passports.

Current situation

As many of you know, Nick is sponsoring my application for permanent residency. We are 4 months into the 7-8 month process.
We were denied at the first stage of approval, because we were technically common law partners when nick finalized his Residency back in 2005. Meaning we misrepresented ourselves. However, the government reviews the application on a case by case basis and so we have not been officially rejected, yet. It depends on the entire application, and so we are hoping they will see the misrepresentation as an oversight because we were partners for just 8 day before entering Canada.

So there you have it. Residency in a nutshell. Or at least our current situation, anyway.

and just for the heck of it, here are some pics. I haven't taken a lot of pics lately, but here's what i got.

Colour ain't a thing: the last time family looked this menacing was the pose by the Jacksons in the 'Scream' video. You can see the similarities, except the colour situation is reversed.
